Much lighter in weight than the hickory, the skinless rattan is fairly smooth so you can slide you hands along the shaft for staff and spear work.
Without skin is smother, so better for thrusting/sliding spear work. But may get damaged when hit. With skin is better for impact, but may be rough or splintery.
Skinless rattan is used for sliding/thrusting weapons such as spears.
Rattan with skin is mostly for heavy striking weapons, axes, polehammers.
The 1.25" at 7' long has a little flex to it overall.
1-1/4" (31.75mm) diameter x 7' (84") Fairly consistent at 1-1/4" along full length. Average weight of about 1.75 lbs.
Will not be perfectly straight. Its rattan, not an arrow.

Unknown Rattan: the staff
This was my first experience with Rattan. I would use it for training, but I do not see this as a sutible walking staff in rough environment. the staff is clear and free of defect. As a natural product it is not exactly straight but it is a good staff

A bit warped
Generally consistent and high quality. There is significant curve in 1 of the two 7' poles I received in this order. The other is less curved and more what I am accustomed to. Even the curved pole will still serve its purpose. After 4 such poles, only 1 has been so curved. I recommend Purple Heart for their shaved rattan for the speed and general quality.

Nicd Staff
Very nice staff, may need a little bit of sanding and oiling to get smooth but it is still very nice
