Singlestick:
Used as a training
weapon for the sabre/backsword in the 19th and 20th century. Also as a sport, with
one set of rules in Scotland being where one arm is tied down and requiring blood to be
drawn from an opponents head.
Backet C - hick cuir bouilli (wax hardened) leather make
this a tough hilt. Simple design makes it a strong economical choice. ***Important
- baskets are pre-drilled with a 3/4 inch hole - if you are
ordering a basket only, please let us know if you need us to
drill another size hole for you. This basket has been
the standard for singlestick use for many years now.
Basket B - Handmade wicker. Thick interwoven strands makes this
an amazingly strong hilt. This is a perfectly historic
design used in the 19th century.
Sticks
: The
rattan is light and is will absorb impact. These are typically used for more intense bouting
and those wanting quicker blade work. Hickory has a
more sword-like feel to it. Its impact grade hickory that
will last a long time. Hand oiled and sanded smooth the
hickory is tapered from 1-1/8" to about 7/8" at the point.
All sticks include a cross pin to reinforce the basket.

have a tolerance of 1/4 inch plus or minus on the thickness.
