The 1-1/4" quarter staff is heavier than the 1-1/8" quarterstaff. So pick according to your strength.

This series of staves are made with 2 layers of impact grade hickory laminated together to form a strong, straight and defect free staff. This is the best wood possible for martial arts use. The hickory is strong, yet it is flexible to not be brittle when struck against other equipment. We hand oil at least 2 coat of a boiled linseed/mineral spirits mixture.

7 ft Quarterstaff
The product was high quality as expected and the shipping was quick and convenient. But there was substantial warping in the product on the upper third of the quaterstaff. I may have been related to shipping but aside from that it was as expected.

Another great staff
This thing is beefy. The octagonal shape keeps it from slipping from your hand. You would not want to get hit with this thing.

A perfect stick
If there was such a thing as a perfect stick this is it. Holding it for the first time was like being a kid and finding the stock that your friends get jealous of. All the dimensions and weight are just right. If considering a quarterstaff or even a hiking staff, pick this up.

Hickory Rules: the hickory staff
This is a nice staff. This length and diameter work well for me. I use my staffs for walking. Not on a city sidewalk but on rougher terrain. Not mountains but what ever is available in Dallas County Texas.
